Travel Tips for the Impatient Traveler: a Guide to Easy Business and Leisure Travel ReviewThe main portion of this "book" comes in at a scant 59 pages, and then goes in to resources, a packing list, etc. The whole thing clocks in at less than 100 pages, and that's with very large font.It might stiil be worth your money if it were filled with valuable tips that the author had spent a lot of time researching. However, the bulk of the tips are based on the author's own experience, which, while extensive, is still one person's experience. Maybe if the author had put in the time to actually talk to some other people and do some research, the book could have topped out at more than 100 pages.
The author's experience comes across as sheltered in some aspects, as well. As a reader, I didn't get the impression she traveled much at all internationally, so standard tips like making sure you make copies of your passport weren't there at all. There's nothing of substance about train travel, which can be the best way to get around many areas of Europe and even the Northeast corridor of the U.S.
And, the thing I found most egregious, personally -- the author strongly recommends against taking public transit, based on the fact that she got lost once. Public transportation is the greenest and in many major cities the best way to get around. Are readers supposed to take a cab into central London from Heathrow Airport instead of the Tube or express train? Get around Washington D.C. in a rental car instead of the Metro? Good luck with that. Yes, it does require that you do some research in advance so that you don't get lost in a new city and you know if there are areas to avoid, but that research is easy to do online these days.
Overall this book struck me as the brief ramblings of an expense account traveler who has clearly spent a lot of time in airports and hotel rooms, but who hasn't really *travelled* in a way that develops travel savvy. If you are a reasonably intelligent adult who has traveled at all in your life, you're better off sticking to the Internet where you can get better, more well-rounded tips for free.Travel Tips for the Impatient Traveler: a Guide to Easy Business and Leisure Travel Overview
